MEET THE OWNERS

Krissy & Luke

“Luke and Krissy are both from surf and beach backgrounds - Luke from Piha and Krissy from Mount Maunganui.  In 2017 they both retired from Police after 55 years of service between them, took the plunge and purchased the Waimarama Store.  They have four children between them and thought the Store would be a great family business which the kids could work in with them and save money for their futures.”

ABOUT THE STORE

Our vision when we took over the store was that we wanted to use and supply as much local, quality, environmentally sustainable produce as possible.  We have very strong environmental beliefs and are passionate about looking after our beautiful beach and village. We feel extremely fortunate to live in such a magic piece of paradise and to be such an integral part of our community.

We have a strong sense of community and one of our visions was to make the Waimarama Store a focal point for the community and somewhere that enhanced people's experience when visiting Waimarama. We believe we have achieved this with helpful happy staff, great food and fantastic coffee.

We employ all local school and university students and some more mature locals also. All the staff we have employed have stayed with us right through our journey to date, many of our school students have now moved on to university but still come back to work over the holiday period.  Some courses they are doing include: Teaching degree, Radiology, Geology, Geography and Earth Science. Law and Environmental Studies, Political Science and Marine Biology. We are very proud of all of them and so fortunate to have helped them on their way.

Our Awesome 2020 Staff
